Ted Cruz is an American senator from Texas who is running for the Republican presidential nomination in the 2016 election. Rafael Edward Cruz was born on December 22, 1970, in Calgary, Alberta, to Eleanor Elizabeth Wilson and Rafael Bienvenido Cruz, both of whom worked in the oil industry in the United States. Ted Cruz went to private schools and graduated valedictorian in 1988. Ted earned a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Princeton University in 1992.
