Kyrie Irving is an American professional basketball NBA championship winner. He was born Kyrie Andrew Irving on March 23, 1992 in Melbourne, Australia, to Drederick and Elizabeth Irving. Kyries’ father was a professional basketball player in Australia as a child and his mother died when he was four years old. Kyrie grew up in New Jersey and knew he wanted to play in the NBA when he was in fourth grade. His skills were evident even as a child and he was offered a scholarship in fifth grade at Boston University.
The most points scored in a single game by a Cavalier is held by none other than Irving himself. On March 14, 2015, against no less than the defending champs at that time, the San Antonio Spurs, Irving dropped a cool 57 points on 6-of-6 from rainbow territory.
In 2009 Kyrie Irving announced he would commit to Duke University. He was in the running for NCAA Freshman of the Year but a severe ligament injury put him out.
In 2017, Irving stated numerous times that he believes that the earth is flat — a conspiracy theory that is actually propagated by some radical societies.
In 2011 Kyrie Irving entered the NBA Draft and was chosen as first overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
His performance in the 2013-14 season was also remarkable. He recorded his first career triple double with 21 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds in a 99-79 win against the Utah Jazz in February 2014.
Kyrie Irving won the 2012 NBA Rookie of the Year Award, earning 117 out of 120 possible first-place votes.
Kyrie Irving was then chosen to play for the NBA All-Rookie First Team.
He was also named the 2014 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year.
In 2012 Kyrie broke his hand and had to have surgery that same July.
In 2014, he helped his team win the gold medal at the FIBA Basketball World Cup and was named FIBA World Cup MVP.
During the 2012-13 season Kyrie had an injury to his index finger and missed 3 weeks. Upon his return he scored his then to-date career high of 41 points.
His biggest achievements came in 2016. He aided his team win the NBA championship as well as the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the same year.
Kyrie Irving became the youngest NBA player to score 40 at Madison Square Garden.

Kyrie Irving was a gold medal winner in the 2016 Summer Olympics.
